Philly Soul has been experiencing a huge resurgence over the past decade and a lot of that has to with the efforts of veteran producer Butch Ingram who has consistently introduced new voices into the ever-expanding talent pool. A case in point would be the vocal group TRU and their enormously talented lead vocalist Jimi Williams.
The song "I Think I'll Stay Home Today," originally sung by Billy Paul many years ago, was a beloved favorite within the R&B community. Billy Paul (Williams) is a family member of Jimi Williams so Jimi knew the song well. When Carla Benson said it was one of her favorites also from the time The Sweeties recorded the background with Billy, Ingram decided to record it as the first solo project for Jimi Williams – and Benson, Sharon Ingram and Nikita Harmon are singing the background vocals almost note for note as they did the first time, all those years ago. The new single is presented here along with a special instrumental version of the track as an added bonus. This excellent new version of Billy Paul's time-honored tune will no doubt attract new and old fans alike, and places Jimi Williams where he belongs - at center stage.
Hey there! Jimi Williams here, I gotta say that the love and support we get from all of you is truly an honor. It seriously fuels our passion to keep on creating the best possible experience we can offer. You deserve it!
